I received my lovely doll quilt from the wonderful Brittney!
She did a wonderful job making this Roald Dahl inspired little red riding hood. The illustration from his book "Gruesome Rhymes" shows little red holding up a gun, this was causing a bit of a stir in the Doll Quilt Swap group. So Brittney decided to give her a rotary cutter instead, making little red just about as bad ass as I am ;-)
My partner received her quilt as well so that wraps up this swap for me...sad face. It was lots of fun and I can not wait to do the Doll Quilt Swap again!
Yesterday I got an email from the lovely Elaine showing off her version of my circle quilt tutorial. Isn't this beautiful?! I love it.
Did you see the hearts she added instead of some of the circles? Sweet! This turned out such a warm and cozy quilt it makes me want to snuggle up on the couch under this and eat lots of chocolate and watch crappy telly. When you click on the picture it will take you to Elaine's blog where you can read all about this quilt and her other fun sewing projects.
Thank you Brittney and Elaine!!

~about a doll quilt, a mug rug and good etiquette~
My little monster has been quite ill over the weekend. We've been housebound since friday and I can tell you the walls are closing in one me! The silver lining of spending all my time between these four walls is of course sewing! I finished my mini quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap. Here it is all bound and quilted, still in need of a label and a name perhaps? Suggestions are welcome!
I've grown to love this little quilt. It's been quite a challenge to come up with something I hope my partner will like. Judging from the extensive stalking I have done she has quite different tastes from mine. But she, like most of us in the swap, would like for her partner to make something they love. So I tried to do both. A little bit of my likes combined with some things I think she likes...lets hope I didn't get it wrong!
I ended up making something quite different from my initial idea but I still really wanted to execute the 'ceci n'est pas un coq' quilt. So I made this mug rug. It's pathetic if you're the one laughing hardest at your own joke, I know! But it makes me laugh everytime I see it.
Something completely different; Kat is hosting a series of posts by different guest bloggers Good Etiquette for the Modern Blogger Today's day two so there's only one day's worth of cathing up, it's very interesting to read!

{Doll Quilt Swap} Progress
Finally I made a start on my partners doll quilt. It took me a while to integrate my partners likes with my own. Determined as I was not to do another black bird I made a few starts on other ideas but ended up not liking them at all! So I caved and went with the bird.
Here's the start with the background fused and stitched as it was yesterday.
Today I made the kite and the branch and some other details and played around with them a bit. None of them are fused yet so I can move it all around and see what looks best. Which one do you like best? I'm not sure. I quite like the first one because it brings together all the greens, but I think my partner may like some more colour. Perhaps I should add some flowers in the grass, either fused applique or embroidery.. I have the same doubts about the kite, I personally love the newspaper fabric but maybe my partner would prefer a shiny red or pink kite instead?
Decisions, decisions ha ha!
I would love to hear what you would add {or remove!}

Some sewing and a Liebster Award
I've been busy stalking my partner in the DQS10 trying to figure out who she is and what she would like. I have a little idea and I'm hoping it will grow into a more finalized idea as to what to make for her.
Meanwhile I've also finsihed my Fresh Modern Bee 2 blocks for this month. It was Krista's month {lolablueocean}She asked for circles and sent us all lovely linen and scraps from her stash. I got red, wich I love, and made these two blocks.
I started off wanting to piece a rather small circle, wich turned out to be quite a disaster. So after my failed attempt at that I went for raw edge applique instead. nice and safe! I will have to revisit Kerry's wonderful tutorial on how to piece circles soon to give it another go {you know after my bruised ego has healed and all that!}
Speaking of Kerry, she nominated me for the Liebster Award - sweet!! It's an award for little blogs with 300 or less followers. The idea is in order to accept the award you need to spread the love and award three other blogs in turn
I'm of course more than willing to spread the bloggy love! I've picked three blogs from very talented ladies that are more recent discoveries of mine.
Brooke from April Two Eighty who takes the most beautiful photographs and we are all trying to copy here style! {or at least I am} She has a stash that makes me green with envy and she puts it to good use too, making beautiful and contemporary quilty goodness.
Jolene from Blue Elephant Stitches she's been keeping us up to date on her works in progress, with lovely pictures of beautiful fabrics and quilts to be! I love reading about her process and what she's discovering about herself.
Sarah from Pings and Needles Not only does Sarah have a great fabric collection, she is an active swapper over on Flickr {that's how we 'met'} and she has a great sense of humour! You're garanteed a chuckle or two reading her blog :-)
It wasn't easy to pick three blogs I can tell you! There are so many wonderful people I've got to know in this short period of time spent in blogtopia. Truthfully you all deserve an award {if we keep passing it on you might all end up getting one anyway he he!}
Be sure to check out Kerry's blog first, she's got some really helpful tutorials, and beautiful fabrics and quilty projects to share with you all :-)

Dear Partner...
Hey partner!
I hope you're enjoying stalking me :D. I also hope you can find some inspiration in my Gallery and Mosaic.
If you are anything like me you may feel a little daunted by the task of trying to figure out my likes and dislikes. Now I could make a long list of all the things I do and don't like {yes this did cross my mind he he} but that may very well be the most boring thing you'd ever read! Also I don't want to constrict your creativity in any way.
I'd like you to have fun with this and be creative, fabrics, design and all that are not as important. I'd love for you to follow through on the idea that gave you that little rush of excitement, and not abandon it because you've read me saying I don't like orange somewhere! It truly doesn't matter so much what I like or not, it matters that you are willing to put in your time and effort to make me something, that matters A LOT! Thank you!

yeah bebe!

I'm an official bebe in this round of the Doll Quilt Swap {DQS10} over on Flickr!
Soooo excited and a little scared too, the talent in this group is a bit intimidating I must admit. I've also rated myself as intermediate level, and I'm starting to doubt that decision now *nervous little laughter.
But I will look at this as a great opportunity to challenge my creativity and meet some wonderful people along the way.
No partners are assigned yet, this is a BIG swap so it takes the mama's a while to get everyone sorted {wouldn't it be fun if they had a quilted version of the Sorting Hat!} But future partner I will post something especially for you soon!
Are you playing too?
x Leila
